PSX turns bearish, loses over 1,370 points

Islamabad: The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bearish trend on Wednesday, losing 1,370.52 points, a negative change of 0.81 percent, to close at 168,021.80 points against 169,392.33 points recorded in the previous trading session.



The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 356.138 million shares, compared to 372.016 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value increased to Rs19.487 billion from Rs17.210 billion.



Market capitalisation declined to Rs18.721 trillion from Rs18.857 trillion recorded a day earlier.



Out of 496 companies that traded in the ready market, 121 posted gains, 320 suffered losses, while 55 remained unchanged, reflecting an overall bearish momentum in the market.



WorldCall Telecom led the volume chart with 40.030 million shares, followed by Cnergyico PK with 21.570 million shares and Media Times Ltd with 19.619 million shares.



Among the top gainers, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited surged by Rs107.12 to close at Rs24,041.83, while Pakistan Services Limited gained Rs46.04 to settle at Rs1,337.43.



On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited-B fell by Rs696.00 to close at Rs16,000.00, while Buxly Paints Limited declined by Rs42.59 to Rs633.43.



In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 92.834 million shares with a traded value of Rs6.172 billion, compared with 100.221 million shares worth Rs6.330 billion in the previous session.



Of the 311 companies traded in the DFC market, 47 advanced, 260 declined, and four remained unchanged.
