LAHORE: The Punjab Department of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics has introduced an innovative digital solution, the “Excise at Your Doorstep” service, aiming to address public concerns regarding vehicle registration and ownership changes.
This new service enables Excise Department officials to facilitate vehicle registration and ownership transfers directly at individuals’ homes.
Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman underscored the importance of employing technology for improved governance and service delivery, commending the department’s digitization efforts as a crucial advancement.
The “Dahleez App” and “e-Registration Card” initiative garnered praise for effectively resolving longstanding issues within the department. The virtual registration card, accessible through the department’s website or application, provides relief for vehicle owners facing fines from traffic police due to the absence of physical registration cards.
The Director General of Excise highlighted the initial launch of the “Exc
ise at Your Doorstep” service in Lahore, with plans for expansion throughout the province. Officials will visit homes to offer vehicle registration and transfer services, with online banking facilitating fee payments. The e-registration card, hailed as Pakistan’s first e-title document, streamlines the process for vehicle owners, replacing the outdated motor registration system and marking a significant reform.
