LAHORE: Punjab’s Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir revealed plans to set up advanced thalassemia centers in every division of the province, following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking on World Thalassemia Awareness Day during his visit to the Fatemeed Foundation and Sundus Foundation on Wednesday, he commended the both institutions for their tireless efforts in treating thalassemia patients and pledged legislative action to mandate pre-marriage thalassemia tests. Stressing the importance of collective action, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to easing the burden on these institutions and providing support to thalassemia-affected children.
He paid tribute to late Munnu Bhai’s valuable services. He went to the children affected by thalassemia in Fatemeed Foundation and Sundus Foundation one by one and distributed gifts among them. Director Social Welfare and Professor Saima Farhan also addressed the event and informed about
this disease.
