LAHORE: In line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has decided to expand the scope of district administrations beyond traditional administrative duties, transforming all districts into primary hubs for provincial economic growth and industrialisation.
To formulate a comprehensive strategy for local investment promotion and business facilitation, a two-day workshop for Additional Deputy Commissioners (Headquarters) from across the province will commence at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on November 2, said by a spokesperson of chief secretary office.
The primary objective of the workshop is to stimulate local economies, eliminate bureaucratic hurdles to streamline business operations, and establish a framework for transparent, trust-based collaboration between district administrations and the private sector.
Senior officials from key federal and provincial bodies-including the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Board of Investment (BOI), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), and Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC)-will brief district officers on business opportunities, simplified licensing procedures, and digital service integration. Additionally, special desks will be set up under the PSIC to showcase traditional local products and handicrafts from various districts.
Prominent national and international industrial and business leaders have been invited to share recommendations on overcoming economic challenges and fostering a conducive business environment. All divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province will participate in the workshop via video link.
