Rivers Chenab, Indus, Ravi flow in medium, low flood: FFC

ISLAMABAD:The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that River Chenab is flowing in medium flood in Khanki-Qadirabad reach and in low flood at Marala while Rivers Indus and Ravi are also in low flood at Tarbela and Jassar respectively.

According to the daily FFC report on Thursday, sharp peaks of medium to high level flood in River Jhelum and in River Chenab is likely during the period of July 21 to 27 due to widespread wind thunderstorm and heavy rain forecast by Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) Lahore.

The combined live storage of major reservoirs is 9.365 million acre feet (MAF) which is 69.66 per cent of maximum value of 13.443 MAF.

The FFD has forecast, scattered wind thunderstorm/rain of moderate intensity with isolated heavy falls over Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunwa (Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and D I Khan Divisions and Balochistan (Zhob, Loralai, Sibbi, Nasirabad and Kalat Divisions including upper catchments of all rivers of Indus River System.

Isolated wind thunderstorm/rain may also occur over Sindh during the said period. Current monsoon activity over the country is likely to continue during the next 48 hours.
