Rs1.6m fine imposed on units polluting environment

FAISALABAD: The Environment Protection Department has imposed Rs 1.6 million fine in one day on seven brick-kilns, industrial and textile units on the charge of polluting environment.

Deputy Director Environment Johar Abbas Randhawa said here on Thursday that environment teams checked factories and brick kilns and found 7 units and kilns involved violating the law and polluting the environment.

Therefore, the environment teams imposed a fine of Rs.100,000 on a sizing unit situated at Jhang Road near Chak No.66-JB, Rs.100,000 on a sizing unit in Small Industrial Estate, Rs.200,000 on a sizing unit at Sargodha Road, Rs.300,000 on a fabric unit on Sargodha Road, Rs.300,000 on a boiler situated at Chak No.77-GB, Rs.300,000 on a fabrics unit on Jaranwala-Khurarianwala Road and Rs.300,000 on paper board unit near Sewerage Drain on Khurarianwala-Jaranwala Road.

The teams also sealed premises of industrial/textile units and kiln houses. Further action was under progress, he added.
