Burewala: Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Karim Khan, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Vehari Khalid Javed Goraya, visited Burewala on Saturday and reviewed various development projects being executed under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP) and Punjab Cities Programme.
The commissioner inspected underground water storage tanks under construction at Arif Bazaar and Z-Block and directed the authorities to complete the projects on a priority basis, particularly expediting construction of their roofs. He said development schemes worth Rs9 billion were under way in Burewala and Gaggo Mandi, covering sewerage systems, disposal stations, waste treatment plants and underground water storage facilities.
Aamir Karim Khan said the water storage tanks would help conserve rainwater and improve municipal services, terming the Punjab Development Programme an important initiative for modernising municipal infrastructure and promoting sustainable urban development. He also inspected the green belt being developed along Multan Road near Government Boys College and directed officials to enhance its beauty through ornamental plants, planters, lighting and a waiting area.
The commissioner further inspected an under-construction road in I-Block and ordered strict adherence to construction standards and timely completion. He also reviewed traffic signals at Chungi No. 5 and the General Bus Stand, directing officials to improve the appearance of surrounding intersections, refresh road markings and install cat’s eyes. He said the newly installed signals had improved traffic management, stressing that organised traffic flow was essential for preventing accidents and ensuring safe travel.
