ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad Capital Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a massive search and combing operation in the jurisdiction of Sangjani and Golra police stations on Saturday, as part of heightened security measures in the federal capital.
The operation, which was carried out under the special directives of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, involved a large contingent of CTD personnel and local police teams, a public relations officer said.
During the operation, 95 suspicious individuals, 35 motorcycles, 13 vehicles, 50 houses, and 40 flats were thoroughly checked, meanwhile, five motorcycles and 16 suspicious persons were shifted to the police station for verification.
ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan said that the purpose of the search and combing operations was to heighten the security in the federal capital. He directed all zonal officers to continue these operations in their respective areas and urged citizens to cooperate with the police during the checking.
The operation comes at a time when the Islamabad police have been on high alert following a series of terrorist attacks in the country. In recent months, the police have conducted several search and combing operations in different parts of the city, resulting in the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.
The latest operation is a clear indication of the Islamabad police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the city’s residents. The citizens are also urged to play their role by being vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the police.
