Lahore: Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore organized an awareness walk and free medical camp to
mark World Heart Day, with the aim of promoting awareness about cardiovascular health,
prevention of heart diseases and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
The awareness walk was led by Prof Dr Ayesha Humayun, Chairperson and Dean, Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex; Dr. Hatif Iqbal, Executive Director, Shaikh Zayed Hospital; Prof Qazi Abdul Saboor, Head of the Department of Cardiology; and Prof. Nasreen Ehsan, Deputy Dean.
Prof Sualat Siddique, Dr Umm-e-Bilqees, Prof Mateen Akram, Dr. Qazi Tufail, Dr. Hasnain Bashir, administrative officers, doctors, nurses and other hospital employees participated in the walk.
The participants highlighted the importance of preventive care, balanced diet, regular physical activity and timely medical check-ups, stressing that early identification of risk factors can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
A free medical camp was also organized where members of the public received free blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol testing, along with medical consultation and guidance on maintaining good heart health.
Medical experts said heart disease can develop silently over many years and stressed the need for a healthy diet, regular physical activity and effective control of blood pressure and blood sugar. They urged the public to prioritize heart health through prevention, early detection and timely medical care.
The hospital administration reaffirmed its commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and public health awareness and continuing such activities to encourage healthier lifestyles and disease prevention in the community.
