Sukkur:A Tree Plantation seminar was organized at the Arija campus of Shaheed Mohtrma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana on Wednesday.
The Chief Guest in the seminar was the Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agricultural University, Tando Jam, Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari, while the seminar was presided over by Prof Dr Nusrat Shah.
The speakers included Sindh Agriculture University experts Prof. Noor un Nissa Memon and Prof. Inayatullah Rajpar. District Forest Officer Mr Arshad Haider also attended the Seminar.
Addressing the seminar, Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari said SMBBMU is the first university of Sindh which has organized a Plantation Seminar, which highlights the vision of the VC Prof Nusrat Shah. He said if each student plants one tree, there will be 200 trees on the campus. He said the goal is to plant 1 crore trees in Sindh. But taking care of the plants is more important than planting trees because if we had done that there would be enough trees in the world.
Speaking on the occasion, VC Dr. Nusrat Shah said
this is a unique seminar as normally we do many plantation activities but this is the first time that our university has organized an educational activity. Our university is a medical university and we realize that trees are a symbol of health and planting more trees reduces stress and improves human health by improving the quality of air. She said the good news is that SMBBMU is going to sign an MoU with SAU, Tando Jam for collaborating in the fields of teaching, learning, collaborative research, joint seminars and conferences and student and faculty exchange programs.
