ISLAMABAD:The Task Force of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Thursday unearthed one and a half kilometre long illegal gas network in Winni Gujran area of the Federal Capital during the ongoing operation against the gas theft.
The Spokesperson told that the task force started disciplinary action by taking possession of the illegal pipeline. The task force also carried out operation in Sectors F-8, G-15, G-16, Royal Avenue, Chatta Bakhtawar and Baga Sheikhan and disconnected the connections of 8 consumers involved in the commercial use of household connections and removed the meters.
Departmental disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated after registering FIRs against five more citizens involved in the crime of stealing gas through direct connections.
During the recent operation, fine of Rs 2.5 million was imposed on the people involved in gas theft.
The ongoing operation against the gas thieves would continue till elimination of last illegal connection, he said.
