Spices grinding unit unearthed, owner booked

FAISALABAD:The food safety teams unearthed a unit preparing substandard spices and registered a case against its owner, here on Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson, the food teams seized 2 machines, 440kg maize, 300kg coriander, 70kg china salt, 67kg husk of maize. Alum, adulterated black pepper, colours, and other adulterated food ingredients were also recovered from the unit.

He said that there were a lot of basic nature violations like adulteration, insects in processing areas, and unregistered labels.

The substandard spices were sold at hotels and other small shops in Faisalabad city and its whereabouts.

He appealed to the people to complain at Punjab Food Authority helpline 1223 if they found any illegality in food items in their surroundings.
