PESHAWAR:Deputy Commissioner Shaifullah on Friday said the famous Spin Jumat (White Mosque) in University Town area here would be replaced with new modern structure as the existing building had been declared dangerous due to dilapidated condition.
In a media statement issued here, the DC strongly rejected social media reports regarding demolishing of the mosque and construction of commercial plaza on the site and said that PDA and C&W departments had declared the structure of the mosque dangerous therefore initially the building had been sealed to avoid any incident and loss of precious human lives.
He said that a modern structure of the mosque would be constructed on the same site with more facilities for devotees, adding that Spin Jumat was property of Auqaf department and all claims regarding ownership of the land were false.
