MULTAN:Police have exposed an alleged staged rape and robbery incident in the Shah Shamas area and arrested the main suspect,Abid,officials said here on Saturday.
During the investigation,it emerged that Abid had allegedly hired a couple to stage the crime and implicate his business rival in a serious criminal case over a business dispute.
The deal was reportedly settled for Rs.200,000, of which Abid paid Rs.30,000 in advance.
Police said technical evidence,a preliminary medical examination and other evidence confirmed that the incident had been fabricated.
The couple allegedly involved in the plot fled after staging the incident while police teams were conducting raids to arrest them.
Legal action against the absconding suspects will be taken under the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021, police said.
