Strong academia-industry linkages stressed

FAISALABAD: Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Chairman Farukh Amil has said strong academia-industry linkages were imperative for durable and real-time solutions of industry’s problems. He was addressing a meeting held with Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while Director Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) Prof Dr Muhammad Jafar Jaskani, Dr Khurram Zia and others were also present. He underscored the need to set up a specialized center to facilitate academic industry linkages to come up with solutions of industry problems under one umbrella. He stressed the need to encourage technologies and recipes with geographical indication using local raw materials.

UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan briefed the chairman IPO Pakistan that the university team was leading efforts to bring about an agriculture research policy document at the national level with a way forward not only to feed the growing population but also to raise the farm income and make the agriculture an attractive and relevant profession.

He said that the UAF was making all-out efforts to ensure quality education in addition to address problems being confronted by the farming community.
