Surprise ticket checking on trains, fine imposed

Multan:Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Rashid Ali Mehisar along with the DCO group conducted surprise ticket checking on trains operating between Multan and Khanewal to discourage ticketless travel and protect Pakistan Railways’ revenue. The checking was carried out on 8 Down Multan-Khanewal and 13 Up Khanewal-Multan trains during which 36 cases of ticketless passengers were detected. A total of Rs102,350 was recovered as fare and Rs12,475 as fine, bringing the total recovery to Rs114,825, said the official statement. The DCO group also inspected various stalls at Multan and Bahawalpur railway stations. Fines amounting to Rs12,000 were imposed on stall holders after substandard food items were found during the inspection. DCO Rashid Ali Mehisar said that provision of quality travelling facilities, protection of railway revenue and availability of quality food items at railway stations were among the key priorities of Pakistan Railways. He said action against ticketless travel and substandard food items wo
uld continue without discrimination. The DCO said ongoing inspections were part of the continued checking campaign.
