Lahore:Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) will form a special squad dedicated to the regular repair and maintenance of signboards and signals, ensuring continuous monitoring of major roads. The squad will be responsible for keeping the roads in optimal condition.
It was directed by Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Tahir Farooq, during his visit to TEPA office on Wednesday. He directed the agency to execute the plan as soon as possible, he further directed TEPA’s Enforcement Wing to conduct a joint survey with the LDA Town Planning Wing to ensure the implementation of parking regulations. He emphasized the importance of using a digital app to monitor parking compliance, adding that a mobile app for parking enforcement and monitoring should be developed to streamline operations.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing efforts to remove illegal signboards from the city, with the Chief Engineer providing an update on the campaign.

Tahir Farooq also instructed TEPA to make necessary amendments to the rules to introduce fines and other measures for non-compliance with parking regulations. He further highlighted the need for regular maintenance of city infrastructure, including painting, repairs, and restoration of street signs and signals.
Additionally, the meeting covered the ongoing and proposed road safety plans for various important city highways.
Following the meeting, DG LDA Tahir Farooq handed over joining letters to 11 new officers who have joined TEPA as Assistant Directors. He advised the new officers to work with dedication, integrity, and commitment. “Innovation, IT-based reforms, and the promotion of new trends should be a priority,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain, Director Enforcement, Director Finance, Director Engineering, and other relevant officers.
