MULTAN:A theft suspect, identified as Ijaz Atish, escaped from police custody in handcuffs, prompting a search operation and departmental action against three police officials for alleged negligence.
According to police sources, teams have been mobilized to arrest the absconding suspect, and raids were being conducted at various locations.
The police have arrested Sub-Inspector Nadeem Abbas Shaad and constables Farhan Bukhari and Gulzaar for negligence in the suspect’s escape. The three officials have been suspended and charge-sheeted, while departmental proceedings have also been initiated against them.
A case (No. 1394/26) has been registered against the officials at BZ Police Station, and further legal action is underway.
Multan Police stated that negligence or dereliction of duty would not be tolerated and that strict departmental and legal action would be taken against officials found responsible, without discrimination.
