Waheed Alam Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz termed the budget balanced and pro-people.Though no new tax was imposed, yet the prices of essential commodities had not yet reduced, he added.
He said quality education played a pivotal role in the development of any country and called for the provision of maximum funds for the sector.
Criticising the PTI leadership, he said they inflicted irreparable loss to the economy and now its chief was begging from the United States.
He said the PTI government miserably failed to fulfill its promises the party had made with the people during electioneering campaign in 2018.
Qadir Khan Mandokhel of the Pakistan Peoples Party said not a single motorway had been constructed in Balochistan and the commuters had to travel on a two-way road to Karachi even today.
Despite rich in mineral resources, the people of the province were still deprived of the gas facility, he added.
He said the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) was working well but unfortunately it was not regularizing some 11000 employees. Airports were also being outsources which also resulted in unemployment of the people, he added.
He urged the chair to issue production order of Ali Wazir so he could participate in the budget session.
Tahira Bukhari of the PML-N strongly lamented the May 9 incident of vandalism and arson, and demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits for attacking public and private properties.
She said the coalition inherited economic challenges due to myopic policies adopted by the PTI government and appreciated the incumbent government for announcing massive increase in the salary and pension of the employees, and incentives for the agriculture and IT sectors.
Terming the budget historical, she demanded increase in employment quota for women.
Dr Shahnaz Baloch of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) said Balochistan was the most under-developed province of the country and free trade with Iran would help visible change in the prosperity of its people.
She called for freezing of entire development budget for one year and divert the amount to retire the loans.
She also demanded the provision of laptops and education scholarships to the Baloch students.
Afzal Khan Dhandla of the PTI said every government was in habit of holding the past regimes responsible for all kinds of mismanagement, poor economic condition and inflation instead of taking cohesive measures.
He also demanded to pass a resolution in favour of establishing Seraiki province for the people of South Punjab. There was nothing in the budget for the poor, he added.
He said all sectors were in losses except the agriculture sector which witnessed growth. Switching tube-wells on solar energy would largely benefit the farmers, he added.
Dr Samina Matloob of the PML-N said getting education was a fundamental right of the public, stressing the need for improving standards of educational institutions and their affiliation with the international high-ranking departments as it would help the Pakistani youth to get world-class education without going abroad.
