QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar said that there was an urgent need to have strong and active links between all relevant institutions to ensure transparent, free and peaceful elections across the province to be held on February 8.
He said that conducting peaceful elections was our national responsibility, given the current sensitivity, strict security arrangements should be made everywhere in the province, especially at the most sensitive polling stations.
He said that it was not just holding elections, but the powers of the country and provinces have to be handed over to the real people’s representatives through the people’s vote.
The Governor said that along with law enforcement agencies, all relevant RPOs, DPOs and other relevant officers must make coordination with Election Commission officers more effective.
It is the responsibility of both federal and provincial governments including the public to keep a watchful eye on all polling stations, staff deployed and suspicious pers
ons around the voters during the election and play their part of the role to ensure peaceful elections.
He asserted that all political parties, the public, and government institutions had a national responsibility to fully support the holding of free, fair, and peaceful elections.
