Transporters fined for overcharging passengers, overloading

TANK:The Tank Traffic Police along with Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday have launched a crackdown against the transporters involved in overcharging passengers and overloading.

According to police spokesman, the transports were warned against overloading and overcharging passengers while fine was also imposed on several violators.

In this regard, a joint of the traffic police and RTA conducted an operation and inspected passenger’s vehicles plying on Tank-Bannu and Tank-Peshawar routes.

During the inspection, a number of transporters were fined for overloading and overcharging passengers. The inspection team also took out extra seats from several vehicles.

During an inspection which was conducted in line with directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Tank Iftekhar Ali Shah to facilitate passengers, the team returned the extra fare to passengers and directed transporters to comply with only the officially prescribed fare list.

They were warned that strict and indiscriminate action would be taken against them if found violating the prescribed fare list or carrying passengers beyond the capacity.
