Multan: Sakhi Sarwar police foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from Balochistan into Punjab, recovering 17 kilograms of hashish concealed in secret compartments of a vehicle and arresting two inter-provincial smugglers.
According to police, the suspects were bringing the narcotics from Balochistan’s Kohlu district to Punjab in a “Dala” vehicle via the Rongan Baghal Chur road. Police stopped the vehicle and, during a search, found the hashish hidden in hidden cavities.
A case has been registered against both accused. The drugs and the vehicle have been taken into custody.
Investigators are questioning the suspects to trace others involved in the supply chain and to uncover the wider network.
Police officials said action against inter-provincial drug trafficking would be further intensified, and those involved in the trade would be brought to justice.
