Two held for posing as govt officials, extorting citizens


Faisalabad: The Factory Area police have arrested two men for allegedly posing as government officials and extorting money from citizens on the pretext of serving court summons.



According to a police spokesman, the arrested suspects were identified as Zahid Iqbal and Basharat Ali. The suspects allegedly impersonated government personnel to gain the confidence of citizens and then demanded money by falsely claiming that they had been assigned to serve court summons.



The suspects reportedly used the guise of official proceedings to deceive people and collect money from them.



Following a complaint, SHO Factory Area Muhammad Riaz led a police operation that resulted in the arrest of both suspects. Further investigation was underway, the spokesman said.
