SIALKOT: Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi said on Monday that two important development projects, e-service center was made functional and renovation of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park was completed in December. He stated this while addressing the opening ceremony of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park after renovation. He said that under the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP), a total of Rs 300 million were spent on the renovation of city’s largest park covering an area of 18 acres.
The Deputy Commissioner said the park had a play area for children, beautiful wooden canopies for the guests to sit for entertainment, an open theater, a jogging track for children to sit on for fun. He said that thousands of new flower plants had also been planted here by redesigning the park’s horticulture.
He said the residents of Iqbal’s city would take full advantage of the facility and play their role in maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of the park. Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi while expressing his views regarding e-service center said that under the auspices of Punjab Government Information Technology Board, projects of the nature had been created in the divisional headquarters.
With the personal interest of Chairman PITB and the support of public representatives, all the departments had been integrated in the e-service center at a cost of Rs 55 million, he added. He said the citizens of Sialkot would no longer need to go to separate offices for their work, but revenue, police, excise, Pakistan Post, local government, traffic police, social protection authority, Bank of Punjab services available under one roof.
