Rawalpindi: Two motorcycle-riding suspects, including one who was injured, were arrested after they opened fire on a police patrol in the City Police Station area late Tuesday night.
According to Rawalpindi Police spokesperson on Wednesday, three suspects on a motorcycle fired at the police team when signalled to stop. The policemen returned fire and arrested two of them while the third managed to flee. The injured suspect was identified as Noman, while the second one as Wahab.
Noman was shifted to hospital for treatment. The Police also seized the motorcycle used by the suspects.
The spokesperson said the arrested men were wanted in a recent kidnapping case registered at the City police station and had a prior criminal record, including involvement in narcotics cases.
Senior police officers reached the scene after the incident, and a search operation is under way in the area to arrest the fleeing suspect.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani praised the SP Rawal, SDPO City and the City police team for their bravery. ‘Those who endanger the lives and property of citizens and attack the police will not escape the law,’ he added.
