UC secretary arrested red-handed taking Rs15,000 bribe

Sargodha The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sargodha arrested a Union Council No. 12 secretary red-handed while allegedly receiving a Rs15,000 bribe for entering a citizen’s computerised national identity card (CNIC) number on a marriage certificate.



The accused, identified as Muhammad Naveed, had allegedly already received Rs10,000 from the complainant in connection with the same matter.



According to the complaint, Abdul Ghaffar, a resident of Chak No. 109 South, Sargodha, approached the anti-corruption authorities, alleging that Naveed had demanded Rs15,000 for entering the CNIC number on his marriage certificate. The complainant alleged that he had previously paid Rs10,000 to the secretary.



On receiving the complaint, an ACE raiding team led by Deputy Director Investigation Tasawer Abbas Bosal and operating under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Syed Zeeshan Haider conducted a raid.



The team arrested Naveed on the spot while he was allegedly receiving the bribe from the complainant and recovered the marked Rs15,000 from his possession.



A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is under way.
