Multan: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region on Thursday arrested a secretary of Union Council No.69, Mian Channu, red-handed while allegedly receiving Rs3,000 bribe for providing divorce documents.
Acting under the supervision of Regional Director ACE Multan Basharat Nabi, a team led by Assistant Director Investigation ACE Khanewal Kashif Mahmood conducted a trap raid under the supervision of a judicial magistrate and arrested Muhammad Aslam, Secretary Union Council No.69, along with private person Rais Ahmed.
The accused were allegedly receiving Rs 3,000 from a woman in connection with the provision of documents related to dissolution of marriage. The marked currency notes were recovered from their possession and taken into custody in accordance with law.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant legal provisions, while further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
The action was carried out on the special directions of Director General ACE Punjab Sohail Zafar Chattha as part of the province-wide drive against corrupt elements.
The ACE Punjab reiterated its commitment to addressing public complaints, promoting transparent governance and taking indiscriminate legal action against corruption. It also urged citizens to report corruption complaints to the department to facilitate timely action against corrupt elements.
