PESHAWAR:UET Peshawar and Dynea Pakistan Ltd entered into a collaboration for joint applied research after a memorandum of understanding was signed between Mirza Hussain, General Manager of Dynea Ltd and Prof. Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor of UET Peshawar, here on Friday.
The purpose of the MOU is to bring the academia and industry together to create industrial development in the chemical process industry and related fields through joint research projects, training and student internships, according to a press release.
“Under the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) guidelines, all engineering programmes are now accredited under the Washington Accord’s Outcome Based Education system and UET Peshawar has also secured a top place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan under the Times Higher Education (THE) World Impact Ranking 2022,” the vice chancellor said.
Mirza Hussain said, “Dynea Ltd is a Norway based multinational company. Dynea Pakistan is a leading manufacturer of adhesive and surfacing solutions in Pakistan, operational in Hub – Balochistan and Gadoon – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The company is engaged in the production and sale of formaldehyde, urea and adhesives, molding compounds and glazing powder etc.
“Around 400 people are employed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa among whom most of the serving engineers from chemical, mechanical and industrial engineering fields have graduated from UET Peshawar. Through this MoU, industry experts and academia would work closely in finding research-based solutions to bring innovation and sustainability to the industry.
Prof. Dr Hamid Ullah, Secretary BOASAR UET Peshawar, in his address urged the management of Dynea Pakistan to participate in the Industrial Advisory Boards of relevant engineering departments to share their experiences with faculty and adopt best practices and advances in the engineering curriculum.
He also said, as part of the OBE system, it was important that professionals from industry deliver talks so that interpersonal skills of the students were enhanced before entering into practical fields.
Dr Misbah Ullah, Treasurer UET Peshawar, said the university had the best human resource with latest research techniques to help the industry in related fields of renewable energy and automation etc.
Dr Nasru Minallah, Director ORIC UET, said ORIC would continue bridging industry academia linkages and special preference would be given to local industry.
