Vehari sets 452,000-acre wheat sowing target

District

Burewala: Authorities have set a target to sow wheat over 452,000 acres in Vehari district during the upcoming season.

The decision was discussed at a meeting of the District Wheat Cultivation Committee chaired by Commissioner Vehari Khalid Javed Goraya in Burewala. The meeting reviewed the availability of wheat seed and fertiliser and their supply to farmers at notified rates.

Officials were directed to ensure that farmers across Vehari district receive timely guidance and modern agricultural facilities by November 20.

The commissioner also directed officials to encourage wheat cultivation on available land under the ‘Apna Khet Apna Rozgar’ programme and use village headmen’s conventions to improve outreach to farmers.
