TIMERGARA:As less than two hours left in casting of votes in LG elections, the voters on Thursday afternoon thronged to polling stations in Dir Lower, Chitral and Dir Upper districts to exercise their right of franchise in a peaceful atmosphere.
Long queues of voters including senior citizens, male, women and young voters are being witnessed in polling stations at Timergara, Maidan, Khal, Chakdara, Och, Talash, Warai and others areas by exercising their right of franchise.
Great enthusiasm is being witnessed among young voters, who came in large number to polling stations by casting their votes in favour of their respective candidates for tehsil, village and neighborhood councils. The candidates have established private polling booth outside premises of polling stations for education of young voters.
Taimur Khan, Abdullah Khan and Naveed Ali, resident of Och Dir Lower told reporter that they are very excited to cast their first votes during LG elections. “Casting of vote is national obligation and we came here to fulfill this prime responsibility,” they said.
They expressed the hope that newly elected representatives would fulfill their promises regarding provision of gas connection, installations of electricity poles, provision of clean drinking water and sanitation services.
According to reporter Correspondents, votes’ polling is smoothly continued in Dir Upper, Malakand, and Chitral districts where people are exercising their right of franchise amid tight security arrangements.
Great rush of voters are being witnessed at polling stations at Kumrat, Chokiya Tanar, Shringal in Dir Upper, Madakasht, Talash and Chitral City.
Candidates arranged free transport service to bring senior citizens and women besides persons with disabilities from remote areas to polling stations. Polling would continue till 5p.m. without break after which counting of ballot papers would start in presence of polling agents.
