Burewala:Accumulated rainwater on roads at the Grain Market in Burewala has disrupted trading activities, causing difficulties for traders, farmers and commission agents and raising concerns over potential damage to agricultural produce, the local correspondent of reporter reported this from Burewala on Monday.
Acording to the details, traders stressed that the market had been grappling with drainage problems for years, which had worsened following recent rainfall. They said the absence of an effective sewerage system, along with damaged roads and auction platforms, was hampering the movement of agricultural commodities and disrupting routine business activities.
They said the municipal authorities had been approached to provide suction machines to drain the accumulated water, but the temporary arrangements had proved inadequate during heavy rainfall and failed to address the issue permanently. The traders expressed concern over the lack of effective measures to resolve the longstanding problem.
The traders urged the Market Committee and the Punjab Agriculture Marketing Department to take immediate notice and ensure a comprehensive drainage system, regular cleaning, and the repair and reconstruction of damaged roads and auction platforms.
They also called for urgent and sustainable measures to prevent further losses, protect agricultural produce and facilitate farmers, traders and commission agents.
