ISLAMABAD:The World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting a special polio vaccination campaign in high-risk areas of Peshawar and Khyber districts to protect more than 900,000 children up to 10 years of age against the crippling disease.
Under the campaign, polio drops and a booster dose of the injectable polio vaccine are being administered in 78 high-risk union councils across the two districts.
WHO teams are supporting the vaccination drive to strengthen immunity among children and prevent the transmission of poliovirus in areas vulnerable to the disease.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to reach every eligible child with life-saving vaccines and accelerate Pakistan’s progress towards polio eradication.
