LAHORE:The Punjab Women Development Department (WDD) is making efforts to ensure equality, equal opportunities and dignity of life for women as these are factors that play a key role in sustainable economic growth and social development.
To achieve these objectives, the women development department organized a 2-day training on ‘Gender Mainstreaming, Gender Responsive Planning and Gender Responsive Budgeting’ with officers of the Cooperatives Department. The purpose was to build the capacity of officers about basic knowledge and ethical principles regarding gender, so that they could effectively implement strategies to bring women into the mainstream and play a positive role for the betterment of society.
On the occasion, WDD Secretary Samira Samad highlighted that when women have equal opportunities with men, the family and society would grow. “So, it is the responsibility of the state to play a key role in providing women rights and equal opportunities in society on the basis of gender equality,” she added.
