SIALKOT: Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi said on Sunday that Rs 1.766 billion would be spent on development projects in Daska in collaboration with the Punjab government and the World Bank during the current month. Under the project, rainwater drainage from the city, construction of major highways, installation of streetlights and machinery for Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) would be provided. He expressed these views while addressing the meeting along with Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Bao Rizwan. Assistant Commissioner (AC) Daska Iqbal Sanghera, Chief Officer (CO) Municipal Committee Abdul Haye Bhatti, XEN Public Health Abrar Ahmed were also present. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi said the city had been divided into four zones for rainwater drainage at a cost of Rs 933 million. Under the project, new drains would be constructed, old drains would be rehabilitated and temporary and permanent pumping stations would also be constructed as per the requirements.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a project had been prepared at a cost of Rs 715 million for the construction of roads and beautification of intersections in Daska. He said that machinery for SWMC had been purchased at a cost of Rs 192 million, while Rs 107 million had been allocated for the installation of streetlights.
