PESHAWAR:Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Water Supply and Sanitation Company (WSSC) Mardan, Engineer Ameer Khan has said that the company has set up an integrated resource recovery centre for converting garbage into chemical fertilizer.
He was addressing an awareness seminar on the supply of clean drinking water and cleanliness in Mardan on Friday. The well-attended seminar was organised under the auspices of WSSC Mardan in collaboration with UNICEF and saw the participation of people from various schools of thought.
The CEO WSSC further said that a water treatment plant was being established with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Addressing the seminar, Chairman, Board of Director WSSC Mardan, Prof. Dr Fazal Qadir said that the vehicles of the company were collecting garbage from 68% of localities of the city and 5,000 consumers of 10 urban union councils were being supplied clean water three times a day.
In his address, Manager (Wash Programme) UNICEF, Mohammad Shoaib said that the agency was ready to provide “all kinds of assistance” for the protection of water supply.
He urged all individuals of the society to play their due role in the better utilization and ensuring protection of water.
