PESHAWAR:Like others provinces, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also observed Youm-e-Tashakur after the United Nations has finally recognized the grave challenge of Islamophobia confronting the world.
From Chitral to DI Khan and Kohistan to South Waziristan districts, people of all 35 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marked Youm-e-Tashakur after adaptation of a landmark consensus resolution by the United Nations, designating 15th March as International Day to combat Islamophobia.
The UN comprising 193 members states, had adopted a landmark resolution introduced by Pakistan on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), declaring to mark March 15 as International Day to combat Islamophobia.
During Friday sermons at all central mosques at villages and towns, the Khatteeb and Ulema Karam highlighted the grave challenge of Islamophobia and its impact on the society.
Thanking Prime Minister Imran Khan for highlighting the grave challenge of Islamophobia at international forums including UN General Assembly, they said Islam was the religion of peace and laid great emphasis on tolerance, brotherhood and respect for humanity.
They said great success in this world and hereafter can be achieved by strictly adhering to the teaching of Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Ulema-e-Karam and people offered special prayers for progress and prosperity of Pakistan and unity of the Muslim Ummah.
The educational institutes and universities organized debate competitions and dialogue to highlight the rising challenge of Islamophobia and its negative impact on world besides importance of UN’s resolution for Muslims world.
Youm-e-Tashakur Day was also observed at seven tribal districts where religious scholars highlighted Islamophobia and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s effective role in highlighting this issue at global forums.
In the past, they said no prime minister of Pakistan had raised this issue at UN General Assembly.
Special ‘Dua’ was also offered at Friday sermons for progress and prosperity of Pakistan, liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jummu and Kashmir and unity of Muslim Ummah.
