District

PESHAWAR:The Young Nurses Association (YNA) on Thursday staged a protest demonstration here in front of Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit in Hayatabad for their demands.

The protesting nurses also staged a symbolic strike from wards and OPDs while carrying placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands.

On the occasion vice president of the YNA Abbas Khan said that the post of director of nursing was lying vacant for the past five years and despite repeated requests, it was not fulfilled, adding that irrelevant persons were appointed by the past government to the post of Director of Nursing.

Similarly, he said there were no facilities for the nurses working in the burn unit including the nursing hostel while the attitude of the administration towards nurses was also humiliating and the nurses were working in an unsafe environment.

Abbas said that some nurses have approached the court against the inappropriate behavior of the administration.

He alleged nepotism in the promotion of nurses.

The YNA also called for a Clinical Audit of the institution and warned that if their demands were not accepted, they would extend the scope of protest to the entire province.
