Larkana: A ceremony marking the 98th birthday anniversary of the country’s former Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party, the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was organized by the Pakistan Peoples Party, District and City District Larkana, at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Larkana on Monday.
The event was attended by the District General Secretary and Chairman District Council Larkana, Ijaz Ahmed Leghari, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister and PPP City President, Khair Muhammad Sheikh, Mayor Anwar Ali Luhur, PPP District Information Secretary, Imran Hassan Jatoi, Tehsil President and Vice Chairman District Council Larkana, Asadullah Bhutto, Imran Sheikh, and others. Together, they cut a cake on the 98th birthday anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and offered prayers. Afterwards, a documentary on the life of Bhutto was presented.
Addressing the ceremony, the leaders said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto made the country an atomic power, which enabled Pakistan to assert its position in May 2025. They stated that Bhutto founded the Pakistan Peoples Party with the spirit of public service and gave the country the 1973 consensus constitution and the nuclear program, earning Pakistan international recognition.
The leaders added that Bhutto struggled for democracy and people’s rights, and his execution was a result of a false case.
They noted that the higher judiciary later acknowledged that Bhutto was not given a fair trial, a decision that vindicates the stance of PPP workers. They credited President Asif Ali Zardari for filing a reference in the Supreme Court regarding Bhutto’s murder and setting the record straight.
The leaders praised Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for presenting a positive image of Pakistan globally and for his role in passing the 26th Amendment.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from local institutions, PPP’s Ladies Wing, Youth Wing, Labour Wing, and other subordinate organizations, along with workers.
