SIALKOT:Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Farooq Akmal has said that dengue is a community disease and community mobilisation is a must to control it.
He said dengue fever was badly affecting many districts of the Punjab province.
Addressing a meeting of the District Emergency Response Committee for Anti-Dengue at DC Office here on Friday, he said that the primary responsibility of the state institutions, especially the Health Department and the Local Governments was taking all possible steps to keep environment clean and dry.
He said that dengue teams should be fully mobilised for indoor and outdoor inspections.
He said full attention was being paid in Sialkot district to prevent the spread of dengue. He said that strict monitoring of dengue hotspots and laboratory sampling of larvae should be done and hotspots should be sprayed.
He urged the EDO Health to visit colleges, hold seminars and workshops for creating dengue awareness while the waste management companies, municipal corporations and municipal committees should eliminate all hotspots within their limits.
Giving a briefing, CEO Health Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry said that 75 dengue cases had been detected in Sialkot and all medical facilities were being provided to the patients.
He said special wards for dengue patients had been set up at Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital (AIMH) Sialkot and THQ Daska. He said that all preparations were complete to deal with any emergency round-the-clock.
The CEO Health said that 843 indoor and 124 outdoor teams were working in the district for elimination of dengue.
The meeting was attended by DHO Dr Wasim Mirza, MS THQ Pasrur Dr Muhammad Junaid, SMO Dr Zafar, SE Muhammad Azam, MC Sambarial Muhammad Azeem and Agha Dawood besides officers of all departments.
