PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Mohibullah Khan here Thursday said under Agriculture Transformation Plan (ATP), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government was introducing mega projects for speedy development of agriculture and livestock sector in merged areas.
Minister expressed these views while presiding over a high-level review meeting of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, soil conservation and water management here.
Provincial Secretary Agriculture and Livestock, Dr Muhammad Israr and Director Generals of concerned departments attended the meeting.
Minister was given detailed briefing on different ongoing and new projects being undertaken under ATP that included lands’ fertility, establishment of seeds bank, telefarming & digital services, productive changes in agriculture, institute up-gradation, genetic improvement through crossbreeding, controlling negative effects of aerial and atmosphere through gardening, rehabilitation of infertile land by making it cultivable, converting electricity tube-wells on solar energy, promoting honey’s production, development of fisheries’ reservoirs, increasing milk, meat and dairy productions, establishment of veterinary university & dispensaries, bringing positive changes in agriculture and livestock services in merged areas, promotion of olive cultivation and others mega projects in KP.
On this occasion, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mohibullah Khan said the government was utilizing all available resources for promotion of agriculture and livestock sectors for progress and prosperity of people. He said agriculture was the backbone of economy as a large number of people mostly in rural areas are associated with this important sector.
Mohibullah Khan said KP Government was spending billions of rupees on new projects for sustainable development of agriculture and livestock sectors.
Minister said climate of KP especially of Malakand and Hazara Division besides merged areas were most suitable for trout fish farming and this rich potential of the province was being tapped to bolster fish meat production in the province.
