SARGODHA:A cake-cutting ceremony was held at Hilal-e-Ahmer Thalassemia Centre in connection with the Independence Day, here on Friday.
Special guest of the ceremony, DPO Sargodha Zulfiqar Ahmed, said that efforts made by ‘Give Life Foundation’ and Hilal-e-Ahmer for children with thalassemia were commendable. He said all Pakistanis should donate blood generously and play their role in protecting lives of children suffering from thalassemia.
He said that Sargodha police would support every such effort.
In-charge of Thalassemia Center Ghulam Muhammad Mirza said that the centre was being run with the help of philanthropists. He urged people to donate more blood for saving lives of children.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between ‘Give Life Foundation and Hilal-e-Ahmer Thalassemia Centre for establishment of an Iron Chelation Centre.
The DPO Sargodha distributed meal among thalassemia affected children at the Centre and cut the Independence Day cake. He also planted a sapling, along with children suffering from the disease.
Assistant Commissioner Sargodha Umar Daraz Gondal and Ex-MPA Dr Nadia Aziz were also present.
