ISLAMABAD:Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday adjourned hearing till September 9, on an intra court appeal (ICA) regarding the appointment of President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Arif Usman.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq heard the ICA against the decision of single member bench.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that whether a person having degree in masters in Urdu could be appointed, too, against the slot.
NBP’s lawyer pleaded that it was governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)’s powers to decide the appointment for the top slot of the bank. Justice Farooq questioned what qualification was required for the post.
NBP Staff Union’s lawyer G.M Chaudhry argued that the president NBP had not challenged the decision of single member bench against him. Arif Usmani didn’t hold the required finance degree for the post, he said.
After this, the court adjourned hearing of the case till September 9.
