MUZAFFARGARH:The Irrigation department officials on Tuesday demolished illegal structures retrieving land encroached upon by some people on a Flood Bund in district Muzafargarh.
Action was taken by a joint team of irrigation department, revenue and police at Chota Flood Bund in Khangarh on the orders of Lahore High Court Multan Bench.
According to Irrigation department spokesman, some illegal occupants had occupied land worth millions on flood protection bund. Two persons Malik Muhammad Naqi Kamboh and advocate Muhammad Shakeel Qureshi had filed writ petition in High Court Multan Bench.
The small flood Bund was occupied by illegal occupants who had not only built houses on it but also narrowed the passage putting the flood protection structure in danger.
Tehsildar chudhry Shkeel Ahmed, police team led by DSP Sadar circle Muzaffargarh and irrigation officials enforced the court order within 24 hours after the order was issued.
