Khusro Bakhtyar lauds WB’s support for COVID-19 response

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Makhdumi Khusro Bakhtyar on Wednesday appreciated the support of World Bank for COVID-19 response and health sector.

The Minister was talking to County Director of World Bank in Pakistan Mr. Najy Benhassine who called on him in his office, said a press release.

Both discussed priority areas of engagement to strengthen the partnership with World Bank in Pakistan.

While appraising the key features of industrial policy in pipeline, the Minister urged that World Bank might provide expert advice on formulation of framework of policy.

He said that new industrial policy would focus on enhancement of local production, exports bandwidth and import substitution to step up the industrialization in Pakistan.

The Country Director WB thanked the Minister for expediting implementation of WB-funded projects in Pakistan as Minister to Economic Affairs.

He assured that WB would consider the recommendations of Hon’ble Minister to strengthen the WB’s portfolio in Pakistan and valuable assistance to formulate industrial policy.
