PESHAWAR: Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the collaboration of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department is going to hold KP U-16 Inter-School Boys Cricket Championship in the last week of the ongoing month.
Recently nominated as Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Babar Khan, a former Additional Secretary Sports, chaired the high level meeting at Qayyum Sports Complex Peshawar.
In response to a question, Babar Khan said that in the first phase, trials would be held in all the districts in the short-listed school and a total of 16 schools would be selected for this purpose district wise.
He said holding Inter-School Cricket Championship was aimed at having new faces in the Game at grassroots level.
He said after the selection process the competitions would be organized at district level before being quailed for the provincial level.
He said each of the district winners would compete against each other in a single league basis so that more and more competitive exposure should be ensured to the players to be associated with this Inter-School Cricket Championship.
He said that trials would be held in the first phase after which the teams will be finalized and then the competitions will start.
He hoped that from these competitions we will get the best players who not only compete at the provincial level but would also be provided opportunities at the national level.
