LAHORE:The Innovation and Commercialisation Directorate of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) will collaborate with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) so that demand-driven research projects can be undertaken.
This was stated by Director Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Ali Husnain Syed while talking to LCCI Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry at the Lahore Chamber, here on Friday. Former LCCI president Sohail Lashari, former executive committee members Rehmatullah Javed and Muhammad Haroon Arora were also present.
Ali Husnain said that the Innovation and Commercialisation Directorate could act like a bridge between private sector and the defence industry. It would enable the private sector to enhance its share in defence production.
He said the Directorate would sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the LCCI and also conduct a session at the Chamber to apprise the members about different projects on which collaboration could be done.
LCCI Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry said that Lahore Chamber recognised the role being played by NUST in nation-building. He said the interaction between the LCCI and NUST would help identify issues pertaining to the local industry including their R&D needs and other technological requirements.
Tahir Manzoor said there were more than 250 sector specific standing committees working in the LCCI and standing committee on “Industry-Academia Linkage” is one of them.
