Minister hands over appointment letter to newly recruited Ads

PESHAWAR:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government Akbar Ayub Khan on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to newly recruited Assistant Directors (ADs) of local government for ten districts of the province during a ceremony here at Local Government Secretariat.

Provincial Minister while congratulating the newly recruited Assistant Directors acknowledged that the selection of ten most competent officers out of 7,000 candidates through competitive examination was also testament to the fact that the PTI-led government believed in supremacy of merit and the rule of law in all fields.

“Appointments, postings and transfers in Local Government department including that of officers were made on political basis in the past regimes but now all the vacancies are filled transparently by Public Service Commission, ETEA, NTS and PTS so that the word of merit prevails”, he added.

He also expressed satisfaction on recruitment of female LG officers and said women could equally contribute in the society. He urged all the officers to create public awareness for the health and hygiene on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

Akbar Ayub Khan said that government would impart proper training to the new officers to provide better services to the people. He asserted that local government officials could provide far better services to the people than any other departments.

In the new local government system, he said, the district has been confined to Tehsil council while the union councils has been kept limited to village and neighborhood council where the citizen would easily get birth, death, marriage, vaccination certificates and all other public utilities under one window facility.

He said”The government is moving towards paperless e-government by promoting computerization and digitalization in order to provide timely and quality services to the people.”

The ceremony was also attended by Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed, Special Secretary Mohtasim Billah Shah, Additional Secretary Inayatullah Wasim and Director General Local Government Khuda Bakhsh.
