ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Human Rights would initiate training projects inclusive for “Education to Differently Abled Persons” in public and private schools of Islamabad to improve the capacity building of differently abled children and their teachers, an official of Ministry of Human Rights told reporter here on Tuesday.
According to details, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ministry of Human Rights and Directorate General of Special Education in collaboration with Private Education Institutions Registration Authority (PEIRA).
The official said that the Federal Directorate of Education and PIERA would identify mild to moderate differently abled persons in federal capital. Heads/teachers of these schools would be imparted training on inclusive education. Consultative workshops and seminars would be arranged for the purpose.
He further said that there were approximately 35,000 children with disabilities in Islamabad. The need was being felt to provide opportunity of inclusive education to the children with disabilities in public and private schools.
The objectives of the programme was to bring the differently abled children in mainstream education and employment sector.
He further said that it was very important for differently abled children to attain education in normal schools, which would help them to grow in the society.
Almost 5,000 differently abled children would be enrolled and 250 teachers of regular schools under the Federal Directorate of Education at ICT level training to be provided to them.
Some 10,000 parents would be given counselling and guidance.
