Oxygen demand increases multitudinous after COVID-19

MULTAN: After breakout of novel Coronavirus in the country over two years back, demand of oxygen increased manifold specially for global pandemic patients.

Nishtar Hospital is using up to 15, 000 cubic centimetre (ccm) on daily basis which was between 3, 000 to 5, 000 ccm before COVID, 19, said AMS Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), Dr Nisar told reporter on Wednesday.

He informed that the health facility was facing shortage of Oxygen these days because of growing demand adding that Nishtar Hospital needed two days backup, but it was not getting the required supply.

Dr Nisar stated that the company was facing difficulties to meet the increased demand as it has only one plant and specific capacity.

Nishtar Hospital signs contract with the company annually for it, Additional Medical Superintendent (AMS) said and added that it (company) was bound for provision of oxygen to us.
