PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has achieved a milestone by performing successful heart surgeries on 100 children as well as elderly patients in a short span of two and a half months.
“The PIC has become the first hospital of the province which has performed so many successful heart surgeries in such a short period of time and we are proud of this achievement, ” says the hospital’s spokesman Rifat Anjum.
He said the age of children was ranging from one month to sixteen years, adding that some children weighing three to four kilograms were also operated upon successfully.
He said these children were suffering from congenital heart disease and had a hole in the heart and added that close heart and most of the open heart surgeries were performed on the children.
He said that state-of-the-art machines were used in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for surgeries under effective supervision.
He said three children from neighbouring Afghanistan also underwent successful surgeries and added it was a great honour to perform so many successful operations. Peshawar Institute of Cardiology had become the best and most trusted institution of cardiology for the people of the province.
He also expressed gratitude to people on the behalf of the hospital management for showing their trust due to excellent and quality service delivery by expert doctors.
